An unforgettable experience for all the right reasons; a stay in one of Isla Chiquita’s luxury tents combines the exhilaration of a camping experience with the comforts found in a luxury resort. The tiny island of Chiquita has an exclusive feel and is surrounded by the picturesque Gulf of Nicoya, which means even the boat journey to reach the welcoming sandy bay is a highlight. The small beach is home to scrambling hermit crabs and is fringed with inviting sun loungers and comfortable gazebos, all of which have spectacular views over the sheltered waters; a perfect spot to relax. The 15 spacious tents stretch behind this area onto the gentle green slope. Each en-suite tent is equipped with a soft king-sized bed with premium linen, coffee maker and wooden flooring which extends to a private terrace with views over the gardens. Around the clock electricity and wifi is available in each of the tents and, although there is no A/C, a powerful fan is provided in each tent to keep the air fresh. The outdoor tables and small cafe make an ideal spot for a little alfresco dining, with tasty fresh grilled seafood and more simple snacks including tacos and pizzas at lunchtime. Another benefit of staying on the island is the care that has been evidently put into the excursions on offer. Kayaks and stand-up paddle boards are available to hire without charge, and the knowledgeable and friendly guides are a delight to spend time with. Excursions on offer include exhilarating fishing trips, island hopping tours and the hidden gem of Chiquita: a guided bio-luminescence tour. During the evening a natural phenomenon occurs in the surrounding waters, where a high concentration of light-emitting plankton glows right before your eyes.
