Private transfer to Boca Tapada to a small wilderness lodge reached only by boat in Boca Tapada. Focus on observing wildlife which is abundant around this remote lodge that has a team of naturalist guides happy to arrange optional private guided tours, if you wish.
Day 3
Take out kayaks by yourself on the lagoon looking out for macaws and monkeys in the trees above or follow the network of nature trails from your lakeside bungalow which are easy to explore independently, or with a lodge guide at additional charge.
Day 4
Included in your stay is a guided rainforest hike, a visit to a local school and the chance to support sustainable tourism by planting a tree in the rainforest (on request). Optional tours include birdwatching, guided night walks or boat safaris.
Day 5
Cross the water from Boca Tapada to head south to a beautiful lodge with great views of Arenal Volcano in a quiet and stunning tropical setting. This lodge has a rustic style but offers great privacy away from the busier town of La Fortuna.
Day 6
This region is a great place to look out for sloths in their natural environment with your private guide who will help you spot these endearing creatures among the dense tree canopy. You may also spot other forest wildlife such as leaf-cutter ants and more.
Day 7
Take a private tour today to Arenal’s famous Hanging Bridges, a series of suspended walkways that allow you to get up close to the flora and fauna of the rainforest canopy. Take a pair of binoculars and your guide is on hand to help you spot wildlife.
Day 8
Today is a gentle hike to La Fortuna waterfall, a stunning natural cascade and beautiful pool where you can take a swim. Your second stop is a local cacao plantation where you can learn about Costa Rican local and farming traditions and taste some chocolate.
Day 9
Transfer to Lake Arenal for a chance to go kayaking and then cross the lake to venture higher up into the cooler cloudforest region of Monteverde, well-known particularly for its spectacular birdlife and butterflies, as well as dramatic orchids and bromeliads.
Day 10
Take to the forest canopy again along raised walkways to look for toucans and other colourful birdlife. And for those that wish for a bit of excitement, take a fun zipline adventure through the trees that is suitable for all ages.
Day 11
Today your private transfer whisks you to the beautiful Pacific Ocean to a tranquil stretch of beach just south of the busier resort of Tamarindo, which is a half hour walk away. A short stroll brings you from this small boutique hotel to a lovely quiet beach.
Day 12
Your private villa has its own pool and kitchen for total privacy by the ocean and a lovely place to relax and unwind and enjoy the company of your friends or family. This is a small boutique property to give you a very private coastal retreat.
Day 13
You may prefer to stay in your own bubble by the beach but if you do wish to venture out, Tamarindo is a busier town a half hour walk away along the stunning beach. There are restaurants, cafes and more here should you wish.
Day 14
Aside from the attraction of your pool and the beach, we can arrange other activities if you wish such as private fishing charters, sunset cruises or snorkelling. Try surfing or horse-riding or pamper yourself with a spa treatment or private yoga session.
Day 15
Say your final goodbyes today to Costa Rica and transfer back to San Jose airport in time for your overnight flight back to the UK. All your transfers are in private air-conditioned vehicles for your complete comfort.
